i actually don't love hot pink. i like it for fun stuff, like my logo accent, or decorative stuff, or costumes, or my old motorcycle helmet. but i would probably never wear it on a normal day. except something about this dress is TOO awesome? and i know, it was a summer trend and all, but i just today found this and loved it. really it's probably because i want to be blake lively... but who doesn't? let's be friends, blake.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS
vanity fair recently featured an article about bunny mellon's estate in oak spring, virginia. she is 100 years old and has lived here probably FOREVER. she's a recluse and it shows: she has big vegetable gardens, an outdoor tea room with reflecting pool, and of course that crabapple arbor leading to her greenhouse (and oh yeah, a "basket house," filled with - you guessed it - baskets). this makes me wish i had tons of land and a green thumb to boot. i love nature, though i'm not good at cultivating it, and by the way: the secret garden was one of my absolute favorite children's books. zomg, i would have DIED to find a real secret garden. or, i could just be like bunny, and make my own!!

NEW SONG CRUSH
new song crush is "blood" by the middle east. i've been crushing on the song for maybe two weeks or so, and then today i decided to do a background check. i stopped over at their myspace page and was struck by their album cover. they are slow, simple songs that are just... pretty. and this album cover is moving, and makes me feel happy to be in such love. a close hug like that is my fave. ps the middle east is from townsville, australia... so yeah, we're like, neighbors. juuuuuust kiiiidddingg.

DOUBLE FEATURE
i walked into a new ulta that opened near me yesterday. i've never been in one, but it's just like sephora only they also sell all the maybelline, cover girl, normal-people makeup brands, too. i stumbled upon this little beauty product called the "double feature" because it's an under-eye highlighter wand and concealer stick in one. why is this so great? the little roller ball at the top blends the concealer stick (which is like lipstick) perfectly. i'm OBSESSED. and i just got it yesterday. also, the stick for fair skin is almost a little pink - which is freaky at first - but it turns out that's just what i needed. and it's $24, which isn't horrendous, especially because you get a decent load of cover up for it. so, thanks, lorac. [singing] you are so beautiful, to meeeee [end singing].

BEDROOM BEHAVIOR
i love bare brick walls in a home's interior. it's rustic and throws out a relaxed vibe. something like, "yeah, my house is slightly unfinished, and i like it that way." this bedroom is romantic, nature-y, and cozy all at once. also, mix and match furniture is much more practical than one of those pre-fab matchy-matchy sets. zzzzz...

A KKG BIRTHDAY
140 years ago today, six hotties walked around with keys in their hair and had secret meetings. five years ago, possibly today, i walked into that big house pictured above and dove into the fro-yo machine, hopefully not wearing my key at that particular moment. awesomeness ensued from both: i love fro-yo. happy 140th, kappa. you sassy old woman, you.
DOUBLE HOT FOR IT
on a scale of 1 - 10... 10 x ridonkulous. besides the expensive clothes and serena's flowing hair, this is the reason i still watch gossip girl. even if you're kind of boring, nate archibald, you are one thing: easy on the eyes. hot. hawt. hoot. seksie. bonertastic. also according to my dance place, possibly starring in a remake of footloose. i just went from six to noon. looking at this makes me feel like i'm fourteen again.
